I have bad food allergies, more so I have bad allergies towards shrimp.

I turn into Angelina Jolie. But I love shrimp so.

Went out with my kid sister, Pooja and Ryan today. We toured around Chinatown, bought things I never thought I would buy, walked over a gazillion miles and ended up at this infamous Hopkee restaurant.

It’s authentic chinese food, so my friends, there aren’t any General Tso’s chicken here, what they did have though is snails. Cantonese snails. At first the thought of snails for lunch disgust me, churned my stomach and I didn’t think any of it, instead I had the duck for I reckoned my used-to-be-vegetarian stomach can handle duck. But those were the same thoughts I had of sushi and I’m a religious sushi eater.

So I tried it. I shelled a snail and I ate it. And I chewed it, and I swallowed it. And it tasted like shell fish.

And then I did a competition because I’m competitive like that of who can eat more of this in a period of time. I won.

I ate snails and I did not die.

This is project 365.

Needing a break from much things that involve life, I went out with Telissa, my cousin from my mother’s side and her friends. It reminded me of two things:

1) I don’t like meeting people I don’t like meeting.

2) When I’m utterly bored I’ll find random people to talk to, as I did that night.

3) I ended up leaving because one of the people that is significant in my life was having a shitty day, and I’ll always leave anything thing, I’m doing to comfort them, even if comforting them meant just me being around them, unable to have any conversations what so ever.

4) I think point 3’s point, I’m unable to determine if I like it or not. But for the most part, I’ll like that I’ll leave my world and run to the people I care about. I like it a lot.

The photograph was taken on a random subway platform and I’ve overworn this dress a tad bit too much.1

41As is everyone, I too am getting tired of my really confusing sleep cycle, as in I only sleep when it’s 6-7 in the morning to almost past noon sometimes. I think in our culture that’s a bad thing.

One of the good things of stems out of this, is my utter amazement of  sunrises. I thought I was a sunset type of person but I kid myself. I’m not. Never in a million years, so now I’ll know when any of those online quizzes ask “are you a sunset or sunrise person” I’ll know with much certainty the answer to that question. I can check this off my list of things I need to know before I die. *check*

Sunrises are more valuable to me, because it is such a rarety for me to actually seem them. The colours are more poetically placed in the skies with brush strokes of purples, yellows and oranges. And it’s brighter. It’s also a lot quieter, which now returning to New York City I like, only being able to hear the wind and small birds chirp is somewhat priceless in these parts. Even more so, there is this silence before the storm hits that gives you the ability for the few moments up that you’ll learn to reflect on certain things.

I have grown to love reflections now.

But this, like most of the things I say has nothing to do with reflection. My parents have brought a new house. And in it, I get a new flat for myself which makes me both reflective and happy.

It rained a lot that day, and it was the first time there, where I was allowed to contemplate for a few moments that possibility of living there.

I have to upload day 3 later.

So for V-day, I unexpectedly got a package that I had to lug across half a mile. Yay for Edible arrangements. I can’t believe someone got this for me! And for the first time in a long while I can say, I’m content, I’m satisfied and I’m happy.

And really it’s about time.

ok, sorry. so, colour a day should mean just that, a colour, a day. in my defense, i would like to say
a) i went to oman to find you guys colour :) and
b) ive been sick :) not an auspicious start, but things should get better as we move forward.

Where's Waldo?

Where's Waldo?

can you spot waldo? it’s the cutsie red truck in the middle of the picture that reminded me of tow mater from cars. i dont know much about the type or model of the truck, but i know it’s favoured by Bedouins all over the region. so if anyone can clue me in to the car, id be much obliged :D

GREEN!

GREEN! and BLUE!

the arabs live in harsh conditions and barren colours. the desert is red, orange and yellow, and the mountains are brown and dark brown. so they find ways to fill their lives with colour, and painting boats bright blue and bright green seems like the perfect antidote for the mountains.
